Closter Park

Looking to make a difference in our local community with an international project, the Salinas Rotary Club, in collaboration with the Alisal, Corral de Tierra, Salinas Northeast, Steinbeck Rotary Clubs AND the Rotary Clubs of Ensenada Centenario and Mazatlan Norte, Mexico and the Rotary Club of Madras Chennai, India, will make improvements to Closter Park. Located in Salinas’ Alisal neighborhood, the park is a focal point for families and a gathering place for the community.

Five key goals for this project are:

1.  Improve a vital part of our community by reducing gang violence and strenghtening family and community.

2.  To demonstrate the power of Rotary.

3.  To demonstrate to our Rotarians the power of the Rotary Foundation

4.  To give all Rotarians in Salinas the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty on an important local project, and

5.  Improve communication between the five Rotary Clubs in Salinas.

With the goal of creating a safe and inviting place for families, the renovations will include a new, traditional Mexican-style kiosko, the La Plaza Rotario is the centerpiece of the park renovations. The renovations will also include new seating areas, landscape enhancements and additional lighting.

This project is funded from charitable contributions made to Rotary through fund raising events and gifts to support the project.
